Mosselene Gillum Woods, 88, of Grandview passed away Monday, February 19, 2018, at the Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 1, 1929, near Seligman Missouri, to Lana and Tillman Beard. She was the oldest child - with Billy, JT, Tippa, Jimmy, and Oma joining the family over the next 17 years.
Mossie married George Gillum in 1945 and soon after, they welcomed their only child, Don. They moved frequently for the next 15 years, following employment across the nation, until they reached Grandview late in the summer of 1961 and made it their permanent home.
During her life, she worked as a laborer for several farms and factories including her brother Billy’s fiberglass shop, Beard Industries. She was the co-owner of the Grandview’s Golden Saddle Café and the production manager for Dark Silk Flowers. When she retired, she continued her active lifestyle by becoming an avid walker. No matter the weather, on average she walked three to five miles a day. In addition to the walking, she enjoyed watching sports on TV and working in her yard and around her home. Mossie loved her life, her friends, and especially her family.
Mossie’s son Don Gillum, granddaughter Meredith Gillum, sister Oma Waldie, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends survive her. Her husband George Gillum and husband Marvin Woods preceded her in death in 1979 and 2005, respectively.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home in Grandview, Texas.
