Margaret Louise (Holmes) StoutMay 20, 1925 ~ November 22, 2017 (age 92)
Margaret Louise Holmes Stout, 92, passed away on November 22, 2017. She was born May 20,1925 in Garrett, Texas to Arnold Holmes and Hattie Cashion Holmes.
Margaret married William Harvey “Dub” Stout in Italy, Texas on July 21, 1942. Two years later their son Johnny was born and just weeks later Dub, serving in the US Army, was deployed to the Pacific Theatre of World War II. Margaret held down the homefront, and cared for baby Johnny until Dub returned, at the end of the war. Twelve years later her daughter Sharon was born.
Margaret and Dub were married for 72 years and lived most of those years in Itasca, Texas.
Margaret loved Dub and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply. She loved cooking for her family and friends - things like chocolate meringue pie, coconut pie, pecan pie, divinity candy and cornbread dressing were a few of her favorites. Margaret loved sitting with Dub in their front yard in the evening, talking together and with neighbors. And she loved playing 42, with Dub as her partner, and winning!
Margaret worked for Harris Electric Manufacturing in ballast assembly, Donovan Galvani Clothing Manufacturing as a seamstress, and Cockerham’s Grocery Store first as a cashier, then later as a butcher.
She was a loving Christian with a deep faith in God. She loved reading and studying the Bible. She had the gift of encouragement and loved lifting people’s spirits and praying for them. Wherever she went, she started up a conversation with people she met and got to know their story. She was a member of First Baptist Church Itasca for over 65 years and served faithfully to bless the people of the church and community.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Dub Stout, her infant son, Alan Don Stout, her parents, and her two sisters.
Survivors include: Her son Johnny Ray Stout and his wife Sunny; her daughter Sharon Stout Reid and her husband Ron, all of Mansfield, Texas. Grandchildren: Amy, Brad, Matthew, Christopher, Bobby and Pam. Great Grandchildren: Cooper, Evin, Ella, Joshua, Kristina, Monica, Robert, Kalie, Lexie and Lindsey and numerous nieces and nephews.
