Jane Billingsley (Bailey), 83, retired Special Education educator, passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 in Derby, Kansas. A memorial gathering will be held 10 am to noon, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 with family receiving friends at Clayton Kay Vaughn Funeral Home 505 E Main St. Itasca Texas
Jane was one of the original Head Start teachers, and one of the original Special Ed teachers, a Special Olympics organizer, a member and past President (1983-84) of the Derby National Education Association, a member of the committee to build the new Derby High School, and a very involved Democratic Party volunteer.
Jane was born Oct. 18, 1934 in Dallas, Texas to Ellis and Mattie Bailey. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles H. Billingsley.
Survivors: sons, James (Lupe), of Grapevine, Texas, and John (Sherrie), of Derby; daughters, Janet Billingsley, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Joan Blencoe (Greg), of Derby; grandchildren, Carlos, Melinda and Jacob Billingsley; Bretley Laramore (Grant), Paige Huitt (Parker), William Travis (Ashlynn) and Tyler Travis (Ana), and Dustin Blencoe; great-grandchildren, Grace Billingsley, Benjamin Laramore and Parker Huitt II.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Heartland Hospice and Kansas Humane Society in Wichita Kansas
